Yerba mate Fronteras con poleo y cardamomo (with poleo and cardamom) 500 g
An aromatic Argentine yerba from a niche plantation, made by Fronteras, a new brand in our range. It should not be confused with Sin Fronteras, a brand we used to offer in its distinctive black packaging. Fronteras began its yerba adventure in 2018. Cultivation is entirely natural and traditional, and the leaves are aged for a minimum of 12 and a maximum of 24 months.
Fronteras con poleo y cardamomo has a base of coarsely cut leaves with an admixture of equally coarsely cut stems and a moderate amount of dust. It also contains poleo and cardamom seeds, which give this blend its character.
The packaging features a beautiful drawing of what is probably a crocodile or an alligator, charming in its simplicity, and the texture of the packaging also works nicely on the imagination and on our expectations of the flavour and aroma of the leaves.
When you open the pack, an intense cardamom aroma hits your nose, along with grainy, hay and woody notes. This is undoubtedly the first combination of aromas of this kind we have had the chance to try.
In the end, the flavour of the infusion is quite distinct, despite a fairly mild start. After two or maybe three refills the intensity rises, with strongly noticeable cardamom, a pleasant bitterness and moderate astringency. There are also tea-like, grainy and woody notes and a slight spiciness from the cardamom. A lot is going on in the infusion, and everyone will surely pick up other interesting nuances, such as dark chocolate, nougat or black tea.
This is definitely a very unusual blend that surprised us very positively and won us over with its complex flavour and the yield of the leaves. It guarantees hours of high-level mate drinking, in terms of both flavour intensity and the effect of the infusion.
The paper packaging is fully biodegradable around 180 days after it is thrown away, which makes it safe for the environment and eco-friendly. This kind of attitude among producers is worth remembering. For Fronteras, besides the environment, the people behind the brand matter just as much - from all of its employees to the plantations that work with Fronteras.
Their goal is to offer a tasty yerba, rich not only in flavour but also in nutritional value, with a good energising effect. They focus on a high-quality production process, which results in a very good quality yerba aimed at conscious consumers.
