Yerba mate Don Basilio Tradicional 500 g
A new brand, previously unknown on the Polish yerba mate market, that joined our range in early July 2024. Available in two variants: traditional (Tradicional) and mild (suave).
Don Basilio Tradicional is an interesting yerba that delivers intense taste sensations practically from the first sips of the infusion. On opening the pack, we see medium-sized leaves with some stems, and a rather moderate amount of dust. Broadly speaking, it fits the standard cut of Argentinian yerbas from the Misiones province.
The scent of the yerba is interesting: quite grassy, fresh, slightly woody and grainy, so in terms of aroma, unlike the cut, it is not quite typical of an Argentinian yerba. The scent leans more towards Brazilian flavours, but it remains to be seen how it performs in terms of taste.
The taste of the infusion may surprise you: apart from the typical woody accents, moderate bitterness and astringency, we also find a walnut note, slight sourness and a hint of dark chocolate that gives it a dry character.
The intensity of the infusion is high and it gains strength with the first pours; the taste becomes woodier, grainier and nuttier, and the bitterness and astringency also gain character.
Don Basilio is an extremely interesting new arrival with a solid stimulating effect and a high yield, delivering unforgettable taste sensations for many hours.
