Yerba Mate Compadre Tradicional (Barbacua) 1000 g
A new arrival from the town of Cerro Azul in the province of Misiones, from a small plantation with a rich history of over 40 years. It is dried using the Barbacua method, which gives it character and a distinctive flavour. The name of this yerba ("compadre") can be translated as friend or buddy - we hope its flavour will make it a friend of yours for years to come!
The packaging is quite interesting: it shows two gentlemen, one of whom is presumably sipping Compadre yerba. Inside you will find medium and finer cut leaves with some stems and a moderate amount of dust.
Yerba mate Compadre Tradicional is a yerba from a niche plantation with a traditional, bold flavour, recommended to all lovers of Argentine blends with a twist. As soon as you open the pack, you know you are dealing with a serious, strong yerba.
The leaves have a strongly woody aroma with grainy, nutty and hay-like notes, hints of campfire smoke and roasted sunflower seeds. The aroma is quite low and deep, as befits a good Barbacua. Once water is added, the infusion almost immediately delivers an above-average taste experience. Compadre Tradicional has a strong, bold flavour with plenty of bitterness and tartness. You will find a light smokiness and a smoky aftertaste in the infusion, a deep, low flavour that makes it a yerba for lovers of strong and unusual flavours. People who prefer milder, lighter flavours should undoubtedly look elsewhere.
The boldness and complexity of Compadre make it one of the best yerbas of this type I have had the chance to try in recent years. The infusion delivers an above-average energy boost for many hours, making it an ideal choice for high-quality drinking throughout the day.
