Yerba Mate Brazo Largo Tradicional 500 g
A traditional Argentinian yerba from a niche plantation, naturally aged for 12 months. It contains fairly large leaves with Paraguayan holly stems and practically no dust.
Brazo Largo Tradicional comes in a paper pack showing a matero (mate gourd) full of yerba in the foreground and a distinctive bridge in the background. A rough-textured pack like this always enhances the experience of filling your gourd.
When you open the pack, you notice a delicate, even subtle hay-like aroma with a slight hint of woody accents. Of all the yerbas from the Argentinian delivery we have tested so far, it has the lightest aroma, which suggests a rather light yerba without smoky or lower-pitched flavours.
As expected, the taste of the infusion is delicate, especially in the first pours, when it has a mild flavour. Only after several refills and some time does it gain more intensity. In the infusion you will find hay-like and grainy notes, as well as creaminess and a light acidity with a characteristic drying sensation on the tongue. What else? The bitterness and astringency are rather moderate, nutty notes can also be detected, and smoky notes are practically absent.
Brazo Largo is a very successful yerba that will definitely appeal to lovers of lighter and milder Argentinian yerbas. Its energising effect is moderate and it stands up to repeated refills for quite a long time.
