Organic Argentinian mate from the Amanda brand, which has Polish roots. The Amanda yerba mate company from the province of Misiones was founded by Jan Szychowski, a Polish immigrant) at the beginning of the 20th century.
Yerba mate Amanda Organica is a classic Argentinian mate grown without any chemical plant protection products or synthetic fertilisers. In the pack of this traditional yerba you will find mainly leaves, both more coarsely cut and slightly more finely ground. Medium-sized stems are also visible, and the amount of dust is minimal. It certainly will not cause any trouble in preparation, whether for beginners or more experienced mate drinkers.
The aroma of the dry leaf is light and gentle, with hay-like, slightly nutty, grassy and woody notes. The aroma is not overpowering, which suggests a moderately intense yerba.
The first infusions have a pleasant astringency and bitterness, with grainy, woody and nutty notes also coming through. Acidity is fairly low and, as befits an Argentinian yerba mate, there is also a light sweetness.
With subsequent refills, the flavour gains slightly in intensity, you can feel an astringent aftertaste on the tongue, a delicate smokiness and notes of roasted sunflower seeds, which make the infusion, despite its lightness, rich in interesting accents and nuances.
Amanda Organica is an interesting choice for lovers of organic products and fans of classic Argentinian yerba mate. If you had the chance to try it a few years ago, it is worth rediscovering its flavour; if not, all the more reason to try this new arrival on the Polish yerba mate market.
