Another classic option straight from Brazil, this time a very leafy version with no additions, producing a highly intense infusion with considerable bitterness.
We're off on a little trip to Brazil thanks to the "81" brand and its Pura Folha version, meaning medium-sized leaves only. The blend contains practically no dust or stems. The yerba has an intense green colour and is evenly cut. Thanks to the size of the leaves, you won't have any problems with filtration. A simple mound will provide hours of mate drinking.
When you open the pack, grassy, cereal and nutty notes hit you strongly. All thanks to the airtight Doypack packaging, which will also come in handy as you use up the contents. The zip closure will help preserve the intense aroma and flavour for longer.
The infusion has a pleasant, fairly grassy flavour; the bitterness and astringency are not overdone, and on top of that come cereal and nutty notes. To a minimal degree, you'll also sense creaminess or saltiness. This is definitely an option for those looking for a coarsely cut, long-lasting yerba with a not overly bitter flavour.
