Flaxseed is the small seed of the flax plant, which has numerous health properties. It helps with many ailments and conditions and also supports a weight-loss diet.
Flaxseed - properties
- supports weight loss - regulates cholesterol levels, creates a feeling of fullness,
- rich in vitamin E and minerals (iron, magnesium, zinc),
- supports the treatment of peptic ulcers, bronchitis, frostbite, burns, skin conditions and coughs,
- lowers blood sugar and blood lipid levels,
- aids digestion - softens and protects the intestinal lining,
- helps with flaky and cracked skin,
- inhibits the development of prostate cancer.
Preparation and consumption:
- Pour lukewarm water over half a glass of ground flaxseed
- Bring to the boil.
- Simmer for about 15 minutes.
- Drink the flaxseed once it has cooled.
Flaxseed should be ground before use. It can be added to natural yoghurt, muesli, sandwiches, oat cookies, home-baked bread or fruit smoothies.
