Opis produktu
"Valle Verde" Hierbas Serranas con yerba mate 500 g
A highly unusual blend, as the first ingredient is not Paraguayan holly but another herb - poleo. It is also known as Lippia turbinata and is valued in South America for its many health-promoting properties. Mainly, it supports the stomach, aids digestion, has a positive effect on the heart and also freshens breath.
Valle Verde Hierbas Serranas is a blend in which yerba is not the main actor, but gives way to other additions. Besides the poleo mentioned above, it also contains corn mint and peppermint. The contents are nicely cut and dominated by poleo with its characteristic long, thin stems. The Paraguayan holly leaves are fairly coarsely cut, with some stems and a rather moderate amount of dust.
From the moment you open it, this unusual blend charms not only with its looks but also with its aroma, which can be described as tea-like, woody, minty, mild and slightly citrusy. The scent is neither heavy nor overly low-pitched, so it will certainly appeal to fans of strongly herbal varieties.
From the first sip, the infusion is dominated by tea-like, minty, slightly nettle-like and earthy notes. There are also hay-like notes, a gentle sweetness and a light bitterness and astringency. Its flavour may surprise some, as the typical yerba flavours are not at the forefront of the infusion.
For some this may be an advantage, for others a drawback. It all depends on what you expect from the infusion. If you like herbs to have a lot to say in the infusion, this is definitely the blend for you. If, on the other hand, you prefer blends where yerba has the most to say, you may be disappointed.
For us it is certainly an interesting option, though not for daily drinking but rather for now and then, as a change from the daily routine and familiar flavours, bringing a bit of freshness.
It will also work well cold, as a refreshing terere. The colder the water the better, and ice cubes are welcome too. Valle Verde offers good efficiency and a moderate energising effect. That is why you can easily reach for it even later in the day, when you fancy a refreshing herbal infusion.
