Opis produktu
Psyllium husk 150 g Intenson
Plantain as a plant comprises over 200 species and is found in many regions of the world. It is most typical of the Mediterranean basin, North Africa and Western Asia.
Psyllium husk is rich in natural mucilage. Scientific experiments have estimated that it makes up as much as 20-30% of the seed husk. Among the polysaccharides present in psyllium, arabinose and xylose clearly predominate, with only a small admixture of other sugars. These compounds are important components of dietary fibre, specifically its soluble fraction.
The EMA (European Medicines Agency), in turn, describes this supplement as a mild laxative. Studies indicate that the dietary fibre contained in the husk increases stool volume and has binding properties, which helps prevent diarrhoea. Its stimulating effect on intestinal peristalsis, on the other hand, is linked to counteracting constipation. Psyllium husk may also prove effective in relieving the symptoms of haemorrhoids and irritable bowel syndrome.
Psyllium works perfectly as an addition to all kinds of semi-liquid dishes. It has a very neutral taste and mild thickening properties. You can use it to make porridges, cereals, mousses and smoothies. It also works well added to muesli, yoghurts and kefirs.
The daily dose of psyllium husk is about 8-12 g. The product should be consumed with plenty of liquid or semi-liquid food. When determining your daily portion, it is worth taking into account your overall diet and the amount of dietary fibre you get from other sources.
