A spice known since ancient times and valued for its many properties. It is grown mainly in China, India, Taiwan, Sri Lanka, Peru and Australia.
Turmeric is the rhizome, or underground stem, of a plant that resembles ginger, as it belongs to the ginger family. It is used in ground form, so it must be stored in airtight packaging so that it does not lose its flavour. Turmeric is used mainly as a spice, a colouring or a natural cosmetic.
Turmeric - properties
