An extraordinary vessel from Argentina, known as a Torpedo. It is a barrel-shaped gourd covered in leather dyed pink, with a beautifully decorated alpaca silver rim featuring a floral motif. The decorations are made by hand by a craftsman - this is not a mass-produced item. Only 1 piece of this product available!

You could say that every gourd is unique, as it is impossible to find two identical pieces. Thanks to the leather covering, the Torpedo Cincelado Rosa does not burn your hands or heat up; it is solid and easy to hold. This premium vessel is carefully stitched - all four feet are sewn, and the leather is carefully stretched and fitted to the gourd.
Apart from the richly decorated collar, the rim has stylish engravings that add character and style to the vessel.
The vessel is made by a small workshop in Argentina whose products are known for their high quality, solid workmanship and attention to detail. The gourd has a capacity of approx. 260 ml, just right for a generous serving of any yerba lasting many hours.
With gourd vessels, curing is an important aspect. With each use, the vessel is seasoned further, so more and more of the flavour and aroma of subsequent servings and infusions stays in its structure. However, remember that after a day of use the vessel needs time to dry properly (at least 24 hours in a warm, airy place) to avoid excessive moisture build-up, which may lead to mould over time and make the vessel unusable.
As this is a natural product, it may have slight discolouration inside, which is completely normal.
Before first use, we recommend the curado process, i.e. preparing the matero (mate gourd) for use. First, fill it with hot water up to just below the metal rim, leave it for up to several dozen minutes and pour the water out. Then put some dry yerba into the gourd, pour in water at up to 80 degrees Celsius, again below the rim, and leave it for another 20-30 minutes. A nice idea is to add aromatic herbs such as lemongrass or peppermint along with the yerba, which will enrich the inner structure of the vessel with their aroma.
After this seasoning, empty the gourd of the remaining yerba, rinse it thoroughly, dry the inside with a paper towel and leave it to dry for at least 24 hours. The process can be repeated. This way you do not have to worry about possible unwanted effects (stomach problems), and you season the vessel so that it serves you as long as possible and preparing Yerba Mate in it brings nothing but joy.
We recommend avoiding prolonged contact of the leather covering with water or soaking it. The vessel itself is best used for 3-4 hours a day, then emptied, rinsed, wiped dry and left to dry for at least 24 hours.
The manufacturer recommends always filling the yerba and water below the point where the metal rim joins the gourd.
