Opis produktu

Gourd Mate Imperial Matebom Cereza "el Sol" 150 ml

A stylish Premium vessel from Uruguay covered in cherry-coloured leather. It is finished with a ring featuring a sun motif (hence the name "el Sol", Spanish for the sun) and a flattened virola decorated with laurel wreath and wave motifs. All of these decorations were made by hand. The metal parts are made of alpaca silver, which undoubtedly adds style and elegance to the vessel. In addition, two decorated brass plates are set into the virola, giving the whole vessel character.

Every Mate Imperial is unique, as it is a natural product and no two identical pieces can be found. In this particular case, however, the high quality of workmanship of both the vessel itself and its individual details deserves attention. Thanks to the leather covering, it does not burn your hands or heat up, it is sturdy and easy to hold.

The Mate Imperial Matebom gourd is a medium-capacity vessel of about 150 ml, ideal for lovers of smaller vessels and perfect for a yerba espresso. The inside is nicely sanded, and the virola fits the gourd well. Notably, all four feet are covered in leather, which guarantees many years of use. You only need to take care of the inside of the vessel and, of course, condition the leather on the outside from time to time.

Gourds go through a curing process: with each use, more and more of the flavour and aroma of successive fillings and infusions remains in their structure. Remember, however, that after a day of use the vessel must have time to dry properly (at least 24 h in a warm, airy place) to avoid a build-up of excess moisture, which can cause mould to appear after some time and make the vessel unusable.

The Mate Imperial "el Sol" may have slight discolouration inside the vessel, which is completely normal.

Before first use, we recommend carrying out the so-called curado, i.e. preparing the matero (mate gourd) for use. First, fill it with boiling water below the metal virola, leave it for up to several dozen minutes and pour the water out. Then put yerba into the gourd, pour in water at up to 80 degrees Celsius below the virola and set it aside again for about 20-30 minutes. An interesting idea is to add aromatic herbs such as lemongrass or peppermint along with the yerba, which will enrich the vessel's inner structure with their aroma.

After this curing, empty the vessel of leftover leaves, rinse it thoroughly, dry the inside with a paper towel and leave it to dry for at least 24 hours. The process can be repeated. This way you do not have to worry about possible unwanted effects (stomach problems) and you cure the vessel so that it serves you as long as possible, and preparing Yerba Mate in it is nothing but a pleasure.

We recommend avoiding prolonged contact of the leather covering with water or soaking it. The vessel itself is best used for 3-4 hours on a given day, then emptied, rinsed, wiped well and left to dry for at least 24 hours.
