Opis produktu
Gourd (cuia) Raca with foot "Rio Grande" 220 ml
A natural gourd vessel straight from Brazil, made by the Raca brand. On the front it features a visible ornament with the coat of arms of the state of Rio Grande do Sul, the outline of its borders and its colours. Thanks to the width of its collar, it is suitable for preparing Brazilian chimarrao the classic way or with the invertido method, or for any Yerba mate you happen to fancy.
Every gourd (cuia) is unique, as it is a natural product and no two identical pieces can be found. Here we have quite a large vessel with a capacity of approx. 220 ml and a glued-on decorated foot that keeps it stable. The vessel fits easily in the hand and holds up to 40-70 grams of yerba without any problem. The inside is nicely sanded, so there is no need to remove any leftover pulp.
The "Rio Grande" gourd also has a burnt rim, so no stains will be visible at the top and the vessel will not soak up excess moisture in the burnt area. Each model is one of a kind and available as a single piece only, so don't wait too long :)
With each use you cure the vessel, so more and more of the flavour and aroma of successive fillings and infusions remains in its structure. Remember, however, that after a day of use the vessel must have time to dry properly (at least 24 h in a warm, airy place) to avoid a build-up of excess moisture, which can cause mould to appear after some time and make the vessel unusable.
As it is a natural product, it may have slight discolouration inside the vessel, which is completely normal.
Before first use, we recommend carrying out the so-called curado, i.e. preparing the matero (mate gourd) for use. First, fill it with hot water below the opening, leave it for up to a dozen or so minutes and pour the water out. Then put yerba into the Porongo, pour in water at up to 80 degrees Celsius below the opening and set it aside again for about 20-30 minutes. An interesting idea is to add aromatic herbs such as lemongrass or peppermint along with the yerba, which will enrich the vessel's inner structure with their aroma. After this curing, empty the vessel of leftover leaves, rinse it thoroughly, dry the inside with a paper towel and leave it to dry for at least 24 hours. The process can be repeated. This way you do not have to worry about possible unwanted effects (stomach problems) and you cure the vessel so that it serves you as long as possible, and preparing Yerba Mate in it is nothing but a pleasure.
