Erva Mate Parana Chimarrão Vacuum 1000 g
A larger, more economical pack of chimarrao from a brand well established on the Polish yerba mate market. Mate Parana is a family business run by Danilo Benke, whom we had the opportunity to meet in person in the first half of October 2025 in Rzeszów.
Chimarrao-type erva mate from EMP (Erva Mate Parana) consists of vivid green, very finely ground mate (leaves) and medium-sized stems. Importantly, the mate is vacuum-packed, so it keeps its wonderful flavour and aroma for a long time.
Erva Mate Parana Chimarrao is a Brazilian mate made of finely ground leaves and medium-sized stems. Its flavour can be described as creamy and grassy with a slight bitterness, and its aroma as mild and plant-like. This is because this mate is neither smoked nor aged. Like any chimarrao-type mate, it requires special preparation. It is a very economical mate - with a properly prepared slope it can be refilled at least a dozen or so, or even several dozen times. As for the preparation methods themselves, according to the Chimarrao school in Brazil there are officially more than 30 of them.
EMP Chimarrao Vacuum is a yerba mate that can only be prepared the Brazilian way, for example using the invertido method or by building a slope. The latter is more economical but also more labour-intensive: pour the leaves into a large gourd on one side, then fill the empty space on the other side with previously cooled water. Wait until the mate soaks up the water, then place a bombilla with a large, flat filter (bomba) in the gourd, pushing the mate to one side so that the filter rests against the leaves, which form a stable slope and let you enjoy the flavour of Brazilian chimarrao. Then top it all up with water. It can be refilled at least a dozen or so times, until the flavour is completely washed out and the aroma is gone.
The Erva Mate Parana brand is a small family business that grows and produces yerba mate. Its products have not been widely available in Poland until now, so it is worth taking the opportunity to try this excellent product made with passion and love.
The manufacturer recommends storing the erva in an airtight container in the fridge after opening, so that it keeps its beautiful colour and aroma for as long as possible. If stored in the traditional way, it will quickly lose its brilliance.
Everything comes in an airtight, heat-sealed pack, and the chimarrao is additionally protected on the outside by a cardboard box.
