Bombilla (bombillon) Martin Fierro Pico del loro "Cincelado" 19 cm
A high-quality bombilla from Martin Fierro with rich ornamentation on the straw, straight from Argentina. It has a spoon-shaped filter and is made entirely of alpaca (also known as nickel silver or German silver), an alloy of copper, zinc and nickel. Unlike some similar products, it is not just plated with alpaca but made of it throughout, which guarantees quality and durability. It comes from a brand that is new in our range and offers a very wide selection of premium products, including superb bombillones.
Bombilla (bombillon) Pico del Loro "Cincelado" is 19 cm long, exceptionally sturdy and durable, and filters practically any yerba mate well, except Brazilian chimarrao. The straw has a distinctive curved bronze mouthpiece known as "pico del loro". The mouthpiece is fairly wide, so the inside is easy to clean with a brush. The bombilla is slightly contoured, which makes it ergonomic and drinking the infusion through it very easy. It also makes it simple to scoop the leftover leaves out of the gourd after a whole day of drinking mate.
The curved mouthpiece is called "pico del loro", meaning parrot's beak, and its shape certainly has something in common with this bird so familiar to people in Argentina and Uruguay. In addition, much of the straw is fluted, which gives it character and a unique look. The filter itself is large (hence the name bombillon), spoon-shaped and has many small holes, which makes it extremely versatile and ideal for everyday use.
Bombilla Pico del Loro , like other silver products, may darken or discolour over time. This is a natural process, and there is a simple remedy: just clean the bombilla with a cloth and a small amount of toothpaste, and the discolouration or dark tarnish will disappear.
Because of its length and fluting, it is intended for gourds with a capacity of up to 250 ml and/or a height of up to 10 cm. It will also fit gourds up to 12 cm high, but then most of the fluting will not be visible.
Before first use, we recommend rinsing the bombilla thoroughly with boiling water and washing it with detergent.
