Bombilla (bombillon) Cuchara Alpaca "Hoja" 18 cm
A true masterpiece: a high-quality Argentinian alpaca bombilla made by craftsman Diego Perello , available in a limited edition. It is characterised by careful workmanship, with attention to detail, joints and decorations.
A beautiful, slightly curved bombilla, or rather a bombillon, with a filter shaped like a thickened spoon. It has characteristic notches (decorations) below and above a decorative gold-coloured brass leaf. The mouthpiece also catches the eye, with decorative notches and a wide opening that allows easy cleaning of the inside of the tube with a brush and a better flow of the infusion. Each element is meticulously made, and the bombilla looks even better in person than in the photos ;)
The tube is made of alpaca (so-called nickel silver or high-nickel brass), i.e. an alloy of copper, zinc and nickel. Unlike some counterparts, it is not merely coated with a layer of alpaca but made entirely of it, which guarantees the quality and durability of the product. The only exception is the brass leaf decoration.
Bombilla Cuchara Alpaca is about 18 cm long, extremely durable and sturdy, and filters practically any yerba mate well except Brazilian chimarrao. It also makes it easy to remove leftover leaves from the cup after a full day of mate drinking.
The "Hoja" bombilla may, like other silver products, darken or discolour over time, which is a natural process, but there is a simple solution. Just clean the bombilla with a cloth and a small amount of toothpaste. The discolouration or dark tarnish will then disappear. You can also use food-safe silver cleaners or special polishing cloths.
Due to its length, it is intended for cups with a capacity of no more than 200 ml and/or a height of no more than 10-12 cm. In taller cups, the decorative leaf may not be visible.
Before first use, we recommend pouring boiling water thoroughly over the bombilla and washing it with detergent.
