An extremely popular South American snack made by what is probably the best-known brand, Havanna, which you may know from the dulce de leche that has been available in our shop for quite some time. Alfajores are hugely popular among Argentinians and pair perfectly with yerba mate, balancing its flavours. The combination of the astringent, bitter infusion with the sweetness of an alfajor is an intriguing one that is definitely worth trying at least once.
Two pieces of cake sandwiched with dulce de leche, all coated in an Italian meringue glaze. Sounds interesting, doesn't it? The Havanna brand, based in Mar del Plata (Buenos Aires) in Argentina, has been operating successfully since 1948 and to this day is one of the leading producers of alfajores and dulce de leche.
This version is a small departure from the classic - alfajores with a meringue glaze and noticeable notes of almond, vanilla and lemon. The box contains 6 delicious Alfajores from Havanna. One piece weighs about 47 g, just right for a serving of yerba every now and then :)
The alfajores come in a foil-wrapped cardboard box, and the biscuits themselves are wrapped in paper with the Havanna logo.
